There's a seagull that hangs out at 1001 4th all day. I can identify.
Puget Sound is just a few blocks away, there are three very large lakes near by. He could be a lot of other places. He could earn a living doing a lot of other things. But he likes it downtown. He splashes in the fountain, admires the artwork, watches the people go by. He keeps an eye on the garbage cans, all five of them, especially near the restaurants.
Mr. Seagull's parents have lectured him many times about career choices, mostly about his lack of any career at all. Both parents have advanced degrees in seagull BS and retired to the South Lake Union area. His older brother makes a good living working the waterfront, eating french fries and clam chowder at Ivars. His older sister moved to Shaw Island years ago and she is so arrogant she won't talk to him anymore. His younger sister works the Bremerton Ferry 4 days a week and cleans up. But my seagull friend hangs at 1001 and spends a lot of time thinking. Thinking about what's important and what isn't. And what it all means.
I'm not sure what it all means but I know I won't do what you tell me
