cyclical cycling bicycling cycle

September 8, 2007

Three strikes, I’m out. I’ve been hired three times and I’m quitting three times. Never been fired, but I’ve come close, as close as you can get, toeing the line, walking along it, almost falling over, but not quite. That’s all at one messenger company.

I’ve worked for six messenger companies. Three times at one of them and two times at another. I've never called in sick and I'm never late to work and I’ve never worked at ABC.

Burning bridges…maybe. More like just wearing them out, using them up and getting sick of them. Been there a million times, done that a billion times. Reaching the pinnacle of the legal messenger world, where else can you go? Topping out the hourly messenger pay scale years ago, it gets kind of boring. And there’s no way, at this point, I could go into the office go indoors, sit in that chair, or that chair or that chair, and answer the phone, in an effort to make more money. Nope.

It’s not so much a lateral move, but a well timed strategic maneuver. Fitting right in with the post labor day back to school turn turn turn.

Rekindling old flames, perhaps. Regression is a word that could be used, but I prefer cycle. Cyclical cycle bicycling recycling cycle. Coming back around again. Back where we started. Round ‘n round. Riding the merry go round, but each time I make the cycle, the scenery is slightly different, altered a bit. Familiar and experienced but slightly different. Riding down that same road, but this time I know where the potholes are, I know where the tree went down, I know when to ride high on the edge of the ruts, I know when I’m going to get bogged down in the mud.

do you copy that?

road rash.

the gift that keeps on giving.

a gentle reminder of what is, what was, and what could have been
