Utility cycling
Getting from here to there. Going to work. Going home. Going to the dentist. Just riding along. Stopping at the market along the way to pickup a hum bow, some incense, and a grip of fresh cut flowers. Wearing shoes, real shoes, civilian shoes, shoes people wear, shoes people walk in. Wearing clothes, real clothes, functional clothing, clothes people wouldn’t be afraid to wear out to dinner. Coffee shop, grocery store, a special friend’s house, thrift store, or the library. Open to outcome…not attached to outcome. Versatility, flexibility, utility. Prepared to take on cargo and at the same time, willing to jettison some along the way.
Boxed wine, adjustable wrench, flashlight, argyle socks, high heels, a change of clothes, a rain coat, DVD, bungee cords of varying lengths…and it’s December. Visualize the potential: beach towel, flip flops, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, ice cold beer and ice. Or perhaps: wine, chocolate, cheese, fresh fruit, bread and a picnic sized blanket. Or could it be: cat food, toilet paper, salad dressing, frozen pizza, tea lights, loose tobacco, rolling papers and a pint of ice cream? Yes. Yes it could.
