Actually, no need to readjust chain tension, assuming it's not too tight to begin with and you can put a little perpendicular pressure on the chain as you turn the cranks to "derail" it onto the other gear. Probably doable, at least in a pinch. Identical chain length also means no brake adjustment, which is really cool.
