when you get a chance take a titanium spoke and wrap it around a #2 pencil all the way to the elbow and you'll have a nice tight coil spring that sounds a bit different than the spokes you're used to when you drop it on a cement floor the pencil may not survive the trip and need to be replaced by something stronger like a three foot chunk of rebar
