vulcanizing

February 1, 2016

puncture

pull over

smell the flowers

7 minutes to vulcanize

(spread evenly      press firmly)

(inflate to recommended psi)

and you’re on your way    again

back on the road

the road to freedom

freedom from traffic

 bus schedules

 seasonal timetables

 peak-fare two-zone transfers

freedom from carpools full of

 stuffy overly-perfumed idle chit chat

freedom found in that

cute little self-contained box of independence

called a patch kit

--it fits--

in the palm of your hand

in your travel plans

i've never hashtagged anything until today and i don't plan on doing it again anytime soon but this is for a good cause with a not so catchy name.  i haven't patched an inner tube in a while but i could if i had to.  i know Jonny Sundt hasn't patched a tube since 1994.

Patching is becoming a lost art in the world of tubeless tires and co2 compressed cartridges. I think it's like cursive or long hand where if you type all the time the muscles atrophy so does patching and pumping. It's that DIY satisfaction.

copy that. I agree. Six days ago I made you a postcard wrote it out with an actual pen put a stamp on it to make it USPS official and since then it's been in my bag. One reason for that is I do not pass a single good old blue mail box on my 5 miles into work. That's a commentary on the 98118 as well as my routing choices as well as a unique commentary on atrophied muscle memory and what it's like to get something "in the mail" we'll talk more about the Flaming Lips live at MOE 1995

the BikeWorks Warehouse Sale brought in $24000 yesterday. that's a lot of punctured tubes wrapped around 27 inch steel wheels inside of tires pumped up with good old floor pumps one at a time

there is no doubt there are a gazillion more blue USPS boxes in 98119 than there are in 98118

Personally I blame lance and his 7 tour victories but than him I blame all the finger pointers who cheered when he was winning. Come on that recovery after the purse snag?! Please if you didn't know then-sorry I digress. Lack of blue boxes is lance's fault. Blame lance.
