ahh Ziggy, will you ever win?

March 8, 2007

When the highlight of your day is crossing off the date on your desk calendar, or tearing off the page on your Ziggy calendar...maybe it's time to go for a bike ride, get outside, call in sick, or get a new job. The security guard at the Broadacres Building has a large desk calendar and each day is crossed off with a precise diagonal line, drawn with a straight edge, methodically, as if it was on his list of daily responsibilities. As mid month approaches and the tipping point turns, no longer half full but half empty...more and more days crossed off, the calendar takes on a new look. I like calendars but that calendar at that lonely little guard station is symbolic of working in a windowless cubicle. It represents having nothing to look forward to except nothingness. One brief shining moment of being proud of your precision in successfully crossing off 31 days. Only to tear the page off and start over.

some things for your calendar:

Saturday March 10 Gold Sprints go kick Frankie Andreu's ass at the Bike Expo

Friday March 16 the office chair races

Saturday March 24 Tape Worm TT

Saturday March 31 Too Much Scotty   in PDX

We are talking about the same opener. I will possibly need some help constructing it. I can tear appart a carburator in 30 minutes, but my experience is lacking in other areas. I'll supply the beer.
