Playing Wordle on the train this morning. Then in the corner of my left eye I notice a giant cruiser. A rare sight at 5:43am in the Othello area. As the dude is struggling mightily to hang the thing on a bike hook –with a wheel base a country mile long and handlebars the size of Texas– that bike is a load, I look up and point out there’s another high hook just over yonder. That’s when I noticed the New Belgium logo and the ‘follow your folly’ chainguard and I said “nice bike”. Dude says, “yeah I’ve just started restoring it”. As if he thinks that I think it’s a 65 year old classic cruiser. But I’m thinking that thing is perhaps three years old, as seen in the beer aisle display at PCC.
