75 and Sunny

April 6, 2007

Out came the sun

and dried up all the rain

and the itsy bitsy commuter

rode her bike again

fair weather commuters, like fair weather fans and fair weather friends are there for you when the going's good, when skies are clear, when the sailing is smooth, when the team is winning. But when the shit goes down they're nowhere to be seen. Can't Truss It. Where were all these suckers in February?

I think I might try to count the waves and head nods I get from other motorcyclists today. Yesterday was nuts. Every biker thought I was his friend.

Hey now! I have a carbon bike and I commuted and all that crap through the winter! I mean come on, how hard is it to be a bike messenger? You're all just anti-social, alcoholic, drug addict, maniacs anyhow, right?

We should probably be thankful for the commuters that leave their cars at home on the sunny days at least. That makes up for the fuckers that just go driving around on the nice sunny days. They were out in full force yesterday. I can deal with the head nods, but if one more fucker pulls up next to me at a traffic light on his clean chromed out bike that's been under a tarp since September and says, "It's a good day to be on a bike," I can't be held responsible for what I might do.

Yeah Mary, you know it's Spring again when you hear the familiar sound of her barking at you for whatever reason and seeing her wear her TDF polka dot jersey just makes the tears well up, it's beautiful.

I posted a story on Feb. 24th about almost killing her because she made a left on red directly in front of me. It really scared the shit (and the voice) out of her. She said nothing to me. (A nice "thank you for not running me over" would have been nice. I probably should have yelled at her for everyone else, but I had shit to deliver.
