can't go over it
can't go under under it
can't go around it
gotta go through it

"did you not see me? or are you just trying to be an asshole?"
said Cory to the busdriver.
That line sums up the life of a cyclist in the city. When I started riding a bike in Seattle I thought everyone saw me all the time and they were just trying to be assholes. I was yelling and waving and getting worked up about a lot of stupid traffic incidents. Now I know that many people don't ever see me and I work with that idea. There are of course a few of them that see me just fine and really are trying to be assholes, and I can work with that idea too. When I need to I can still yell and get worked up in traffic, but I try to save that energy. I can be an asshole... be on my side, I'll be on your side....
How do you get from here to there in 3 minutes? First of all you need some elevator mojo and some traffic cops that pretend to not see you. And then it's white line, yellow line, sidewalk, skywalk, alley, one-way, two-way, wrong way, my way, your way, anyway And once you get to the courthouse, don't fuck it up. That's a Seattle District filing, not a King Superior, and don't take the judge's copies to the mailroom.
