Just riding along thinking about this girl I had a crush on in Junior High...daydreaming...zoning out...zoning in...she blinded me with science---SCIENCE. Then the brake lights on one of the parked cars on the right went out and I subconsciously looked for a face in the sideview mirror. Then the driver's side door opened slowly and I saw the driver's left hand...no problem. I've seen it all before and I didn't alter my line at all because I don't take lines that close to parked cars unless I have no choice. But then I saw the driver's left foot come up and kick the door all the way open, all four feet of it, as far as it could go, as fast as it could go...that's gonna be a problem. I was no longer thinking about Traci. I was reacting and existing a bit more in the present moment and moving to my left and verbalizing a few things to Mr. Car Door too...

Yesterday was Bike to Work Day. Which for many people meant it was actually Take the Bus Home Day, Leave Your Bike at Work Day, Call Your Wife for a Ride Home Day, Screw Riding Back Up Those Hills Day, Only if it's Not Raining Day, I am Really Tired Day and so on.
I am all for getting more people out there on bikes.
And riding at least one way to work or at least part of the way is a good start.
