With RAGBRAI only a couple months away, the NACCC will be perfect training. If you won't be attending the festivities in SF here's a training excercise you can do on your own.

Go for a bike ride. Along the way buy a six pack of tallboys and drink four or five of them. Then continue riding along. Then buy and consume a couple pork sandwiches, a corn dog and some icecream. Continue riding along. When you feel nature calling continue riding for a while. Then ride some more. Then ride towards a large festival or gathering. The Folk Life Festival in Seattle, is a perfect example. What you're looking for is any public place that has lots of people and over used honeybuckets, aka Kybos. To really simulate RAGBRAI conditions you need extreme temperatures and extremely over used Kybos baking in the sun. But in your training you can imagine the details. If you're in an isolated area look for a construction site with a poorly maintained Kybo or two.

Now when you find a Kybo, don't give in yet, this is training. Stand in front of the Kybo for 5 or 6 minutes before you go in, to simulate the lines you'll encounter all across Iowa. Repeat as needed.

PS  A cornfield beats the shit out of a Kybo

If you saw the honeybuckets on the second day of the NACCC in SF you know what I'm talking about. And if you could hang in those, you'll do fine on RAGBRAI
