I just ate a huge 72 hour sized serving of San Francisco, smothered in a heaping helping of messenger lifestyle gravy, served up on a couple over-cooked slices of 14 hour drives down and back Interstate 5. You may call it a sandwich. I call it a patty melt. I devoured it. Then washed it down with beer. Lots of beer. Beer in cans, bottles, pitchers, pints and even sippy cups. And now I don’t feel so good.

Seattle was well represented in SF. Craig and Rachel kicked ass in the main race final. Rachel finished 4th in the women’s field. And Craig finished 4th in the men’s. A top 5 finish in a field this strong is impressive. Those were the fastest bike messengers in North America out there and a couple ringers from overseas showed up too.  Seattle had lots of racers: Sam, Case, Kelsey, Craig, Sebastian, Rachel, Cory, Seth, Dylan, Chuck and Eric. And Lots and lots of fans enjoying the festivities. Clare and Lara made a great DFL prize. RE Load and Cadence et al were there too.

The consensus among race organizers and checkpoint volunteers was that Craig was the friendliest racer out there. Always cheerful, courteous and polite he was acknowledged at the closing ceremonies.

I got a few pictures and they’ll be up soon. But lots of other people, got lots of pictures too and I hope to link to their photo pages. Bring me your poor, your tired, your flickr pages.

There’s lots more…but I have to go to sleep

thanks for the good word. Did you see the SF dude with the CETMA rack and the USPS crate secured to it. I put a pilderwasser sticker on the crate and then shot that photo of him He made it to the finals with that setup and wore no bag...and it was a fixed gear too.
