Dope, doping, dopers have been around since bike racing started which was as soon as bikes were invented. The only thing that has changed over the years is the definition of "dope". Pushing the human body through a 21 stage grand tour at world class speed is a super-human feat. Cocaine, red devils, blue demons, speed, crank, meth, pot, whiskey, beer, wine, pcp, epo, lsd, mushrooms, sudafed, testosterone, bovine hormone, human growth hormones, a cup of coffee. You name it, they've tried it.
I say draw the line somewhere and from that point on, be consistent.
But forget all the past tour winners, retired superstars and washed up domestiques coming forward now to confess. There's no reason to take away a yellow jersey, or kick someone out of the hall of fame. Leave the past alone. Move on. I need some coffee.
