Does that relatively small oiled-canvas T2 bag radiate badass messenger energy? I'm not so sure. I am sure however that Craig here is the fastest fixed gear in North America and he is a badass messenger. You perhpas wouldn't have known this when you saw him in sandals riding the pink bike around.

That bag he was sporting yesterday is a prize he won at the NACCC in SF. When I was your age, bags that size were the norm. These days however, messenger bags are quite a bit larger, more comfortable and contain many more features and do-dads.

I didn't even recognize him as I rolled up from behind because of the small bag and sandal riding style. I had to get close enough to see the pink bike to know who it was.
