vibram soles

June 27, 2007

You might be a cyclist if you have seven pairs of cycling shoes in your closet, four sets of flip-flops and only three pairs of civilian shoes.

Like I said before, I'm not a bike messenger, I'm an elevator messenger that rides a bike to the next elevator. Which means I walk around a lot. When I'm clipped in and pedaling a bike, nothing beats a pair of Sidi Shoes But when I'm sauntering around the Court Houses in and for the County of King, it's nice to have some comfortable shoes and Sidis are not the best walking shoes. Which brings it all back to compromise. These shoes are made for walking and that's just what they'll do...but I can clip in too, because sometimes I actually ride my bike.

When I was your age I wore Sidis all day everyday with no socks. Comfort was not my concern. I'm not so sure what my concerns were, but now I don't mind being a bit more comfortable.

I've owned three or four pairs of Lake MX-165 cycling shoes, a decent compromise with Vibram soles, perfect for sauntering legal elevator messengers. And now, I've taken the next step to the MX-190 same shoe with the deluxe added feature of a ratcheting buckle. I could go on and on and if I was sponsored by Lake, I would.

Go on.
