Fleet vehicles from the city, county, state and of course the federal government are often driven by people who should not be driving at all. Here’s what that motor pool logo says to me:
It’s not my car, I don’t care. I can’t drive. I don’t pay for parking. I don’t use turn signals. I don’t give a shit. I don’t care. Oh, did I say I can’t drive, because I can’t. But in 77 months, 2 weeks and 4 hours I will retire with full benefits. And until then, I know about personal use of government resources, oh I know a lot about that. I know where to get donuts. I know when I use the fleet vehicles to buy groceries, to park in the back of the lot. I know how to make an appearance at the office and then disappear for eight hours. I know my job description and I know how to hover just above the threshold of getting fired while still earning satisfactory performance reviews and regular pay increases.
