Orange Whip?
A cultural reference from The Blues Brothers. Kept alive by guys like Chris Murray who inspire heavy drinkers like me to keep drinking.
This year my RAGBRAI training is in peak form. The bike riding is second nature but my gastro-intestinal training has surpassed anything I've ever done before. Aside from the over training I did in SF at the NACCC, things are going well. As I discussed with Claire, I am able to drink vast quantities of beer, eat several brats or a burrito and hop right back on the bike and ride quickly to the next beer garden. There are plenty of cyclists out there. Plenty of heavy drinkers. And lots and lots of eaters. But how many people can bring it all together and function at an elevated level on all three fronts?
A 24oz High Life, a mondo veggie burrito, a 'teener to 505 5th South. No problem.
Two pork loin sandwiches, six cups of Miller Lite, 15 miles to the next town. No problem.
orange whip?
RAGBRAI is seven days long. But this year I've been training non stop. It's like this and like that and like this, uh let's say you're a working stiff. Showing up for work, working your ass off every day. Working hard. Doing your job. Working not because you like it, but because you're working towards your retirement. Working your ass off to get to the day when you can retire. But the truth is, when you finally do retire, you're going to drop dead. So, you might as well enjoy yourself along the way, put a little retirement into your everyday life. Life doesn't start at retirement, the fun won't wait around for you until then so get a taste of it now. All work and no play makes Jack a real asshole.
Put a little RAGBRAI in your everyday life, no need to limit yourself to just seven days a year.
