today is Skunk's 17th birthday

where were you in 1996?

I was riding urbanized mountain bikes and then I got my first real full retail road bike often wearing an empty messenger bag and Diadora spd shoes on Onza clipless pedals for the 8-block ride to spend countless hours sitting on a barstool at a brew pub just-opened on the fringes of Capitol Hill that served up imperial pints at a reasonable price featuring a limited food menu and very few customers with a free pool table and a dart board in the corner. Greg chicken-tractor Vogel was a barback.

Happy Birthday, Skunk.

wrappin' up my chi-town time. a year later jet city, emerald city became my new stumping grounds... until after eleven years i turned to the rose city!!! HBD skunk you angry lil' fella!

and now today 17 years later I'm still drinking their beer by the keg-full but I don't sit at the bar anymore because the management is motivated by dollar signs and douchebags with three locations in Seattle and a national distribution of bottles. No Diadora shoes. No Onza pedals.
