I didn’t just stumble upon this. I tore it out of Sports Illustrated and hung it on the cork board outside my dorm room in 1988. This ad bothered a lot of people for various reasons back then, including some women in my dorm, but I’ve always liked it, in fact it was mentioned specifically in the NY Times obituary for the ad man behind this Johnnie Walker campaign. I used to be a print advertising connoisseur. Pre photoshop.

the Charlie ad also ran in 88 and bothered a whole other group of people. The NY Times refused to run it and called it "sexist" and "in poor taste"

first I thought Texas Tech had some kind of lock on this thing then I looked back a few years and saw the BYU allover it toss a Ryan Leaf in with the big names and still you might ask who is sammy baugh? but he's separated less than six degrees from where you're sitting
