I remember 17 years ago...when Chris Horner riding for NutraFig won the Microsoft Grand Prix on the streets of Seattle. 126 miles with 12,000 feet of climbing, the circuit went up Yesler multiple times, only 33 guys finished the race. Horner, standing atop the podium with his long flowing hair pulled back in a ponytail. remember that?

Yeah, that was tough race. Horner beat Andreu in the sprint I think? It was an Olympic qualifying event, but Chris wasn't called to join Armstrong and Co. in Atlanta. That didn't seem right to me.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind having what he's having too. Horner now has one Grand Tour overall winners jersey to frame and put on the wall. Lance is left with nothing. All is well with the world.

right on. I like Horner, but my preferred mental image is the long hair San Diego J. Moe bro chillow mode Horner and not the bald anorexic radio shack grand tour winner

Agreed. The scientific, science diet, hamster wheel approach to modern sports seems to have sanitized today's sports personalities to some extent.
