It's pretty dumb to steal something off a messenger's bike, in the core, during working hours. It's even dumber to show up later sporting that something on your bike and ride through the core during working hours.

Almost two weeks ago, Justin's top tube pad was stolen. This is a pad that I silkscreened and then Cory constructed it. There is only one like it and it's distinctive.

Justin recovered it this morning from a dumbass who had it on his bike and was riding up the sidewalk on 5th Avenue. I'll let Justin tell you the full story, but it proves the power of communication, direct connect and an alert collective set of eyes all over town. Cory and Rachel spotted the perp and alerted Justin and a short time later he got his pad back.

Hey! I have a question for you. Are there part-time messenger positions? I currently deliver for Jimmy John's and it fucking sucks. I go to school, so I have limited availability. Also how does being a messenger work? Do you get paid hourly or per drop? Gracias Mark

Yes. Yes. and Yes. You are more likely to get hired when you're out of school, ie in the summer and can work full time, except for the fact that the weather is nice and everyone wants to be a bike messenger in the summer. Part time jobs are out there but it's easier to go to part time when you prove your self than it is to get hired part time out of nowhere. You should get your BA, then your Masters then get a messenger job. It will give you a great perspective on the field and give you a real leg up on your peers.

Thanks for the update on the pad. I could see myself finding the pad, stealing it off Justin's bike again and calling people to try to locate him because, while I recognize the pad, I'm not as familiar with Justin's bike. Congrats to Rachel and Cory on the sharp eyes.

better yet...you should get your BA, then get a law degree and then get a messenger job. it won't give you more perspective on anything, but it will make you feel validated in your hatred of lawyers.

yeah Mark listen to Andrea, she knows. A few more letters after your name, a few more dollars you'll owe on your student loans, a few more years of this or that. Get some law school under your belt. And delivering sandwiches is basically the same as delivering very important legal documents.

Delivering sandwiches, good. Delivering pizza, better. Delivering documents and other crazy shit, best. My college degree helped me do all these better. But, if you don't love delivering sandwiches to begin with, I don't know how you'll like delivering pieces of paper.

Got it. Thanks for all the advice, I will be seenig you guys in 3-5 years. It all depends on if I develop a coke or gambling habit while I am in law school. I am hoping for coke, becuase that way I can at least be outside. Unless the gambling I become addicted to is the back-alley folded-playing card variety that we see in movies all the time. Honestly though, I won't go to law school because I read a poem once that said "Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"
