Why are you a messenger? what are the benefits?
401k? no. not. The money? no, not there. No way. There's way more money in so many other jobs. A stepping stone to bigger and better things? shit. yeah, right if you want to do data entry in a messenger company office or dispatch messengers or answer the phone. Or go to the mailroom of large lawfirm. I wouldn't call any of those bigger or better. Benefits in the traditional sense of the word are non existent.
Fresh air. check. got it. The smell of freedom. Yes. got that too. Rock solid 24 inch quads, got those. The capacity to consume endless calories and burn them off ASAP, got that. The ability to chug a tall boy and eat a jumbo burrito and ride a bike immediately after...yes, yes no problem, I'll take two tall boys.
oh and don't forget, an "intimate" knowledge of the city, a front row seat for the craziness, one shoulder that's three inches lower than the other, a couple bullshit "jaywalking" tickets, and a few boxes full of destroyed bike parts. what's that smell? that's the smell of freedom.
